With an insight of the emerging requirement for modern office equipment I quickly became determined to establish a Canon service and sales facility in Estonia. In 1990, with the help of Mr Heino Raivet and Mr Tõnis Haamer, I founded KTK Overall as the service and sales company for Canon products in Estonia. We opened our 450m2 representative office on June 5, 1991, at an official ceremony hosted by the president of Canon OY, Mr Seppo Mervola, and the Mayor of Tallinn Mr Hardo Aasmäe. Canon OY in Finland became our official Canon supplier. Much of the early business was made with cheaply acquired second hand devices that I rebuilt myself. In 1992–1993, we established a solid base and started to expand our channel through cooperation with four resellers. From 1992, we began to establish Canon businesses in the neighbouring markets of Latvia, Lithuania and Russia, building reseller relationships with six local companies. We enjoyed good business success until 1994 when Canon started direct business activity in the former Soviet Union territory, founded Canon North-East OY and moved into the channel that we had established outside of Estonia.
